Year-End Report 2024: A Second Learning Center for Girls in Peshawar

SKF opens its second Learning Center, a girls-only center in Peshawar, alongside free eye screening and SKF's first year as a sponsor at OPEN Silicon Valley.

Street Kids Funds now runs five programs: the Educational Learning Centers, the Rising Star Scholarship, Female Health & Hygiene, Family Uplift & Income Generation, and Food Ration & Emergency Assistance.

Highlights

  • Back to class (August): 16 students returned to the Multan center and 18 Rising Star scholars returned to their public and private schools.
  • 2 September 2024, a second Learning Center: SKF opened a girls-only Learning Center in Peshawar for out-of-school girls whose families cannot afford their education.
  • Learning through play: an Independence Day quiz, an “All About Colors” day, Teachers Day and a “Nature & Flora” art activity.
  • Annual eye screening (21–22 October): free comprehensive eye tests for all students and staff, with SKF providing eyeglasses.
  • OPEN Silicon Valley Forum (9 November): SKF took part as a sponsor exhibitor in Santa Clara.
  • Board visit to Peshawar (18 December): after only four months, the board saw the difference the dedicated staff were already making.
  • Year-end celebrations at both centers, with result cards, medals and games. Rising Star scholars came back to celebrate with the younger children.

“Providing opportunities for out-of-school children to access education is crucial for breaking the cycle of poverty and empowering future generations to reach their full potential.”

Give a child the chance to learn

$250–$350 covers a child’s full year at an SKF Learning Center: teacher, books, uniform and a daily healthy snack.
