Giving back where we began
SKF was founded in the San Francisco Bay Area. Every year we also help children in need here at home.
The challenge
Need, next door to affluence
Even in Silicon Valley, families live in crowded mobile homes, working as cleaners, dishwashers and gardeners, and struggle to provide for their children.
What we do
Our work in California
Holiday gift giving
Gift cards, gift bags, pizza and treats for children at Buena Vista Mobile Home Park in Palo Alto.
Holiday Toy Drive
SKF board members and volunteers bought, packed and distributed toys for more than 100 children with the Adopt a Family Program in San Joaquin County.
Community partners
Support for Nuestra Casa’s COVID-19 food distribution in East Palo Alto, and thank-you gifts for front-line hospital staff.
Community event
SKF Iftar, Sacramento, 15 March 2025
Supporters, families and friends of SKF came together in Sacramento, California, to break the fast and hear how the Learning Centers are changing children’s lives.
