Mid-Year Report 2023: SKRSF Registered in Pakistan and a Robotics Camp

SKF registers locally as Street Kids Rising Scholar Foundation, the Multan center turns five, teachers receive professional training, and six students build robots.

Highlights

  • 32 children enrolled for 2023: 20 at the Learning Center and 12 Rising Star scholars at a reputed public school and a private school.
  • Books from California: a Bay Area family donated children’s books for the center library, delivered by an SKF board member.
  • The Multan center turned five in March, celebrated with posters and an SKF cake.
  • Registered in Pakistan: on 6 March 2023 SKF was incorporated by the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan as Street Kids Rising Scholar Foundation (SKRSF). Local registration allows local fundraising and expansion to more cities.
  • Top of the class: Rising Star scholars from the 2020 and 2021 cohorts took 1st and 2nd positions in grades 6 and 7 at a reputed public school, receiving certificates and trophies.
  • Free eyeglasses for five children, provided by a volunteer eye specialist.
  • Teacher training: two experienced trainers from Islamabad ran a three-day workshop on classroom management, lesson planning and running a library.
  • Robotics Summer Camp: six students (four girls, two boys) built a line-following robot at COBOT Lab, and two TV channels interviewed them.
  • Hygiene program: about 380 sanitary packs reached 35 women and girls. Girls in the program now attend school more regularly and with more confidence.

Give a child the chance to learn

$250–$350 covers a child’s full year at an SKF Learning Center: teacher, books, uniform and a daily healthy snack.
