Ujala: The Girl Her Relatives Said Shouldn’t Go to School

Relatives pressured Ujala's family to keep her at home because she is a girl. Ten weeks after joining a new school, she was 3rd in her class.

Ujala was eight, very shy and unable to read or write when she joined the first SKF class in March 2018. In her joint family, relatives pressured her parents not to educate her because she is a girl.

Three years at the Learning Center changed everything. In August 2021 she joined grade 3 at a private school as a Rising Star scholar, and by the year-end exams she came 3rd in her class with 452 of 475 marks and received the school’s Award of Excellence.

Her whole family now praises SKF for what it has done for their children. Ujala wants to become a teacher.
